Aging skin: Bad Wire to The Immune System
July 27th 2009 -
At the age the skin does not only get folds, it is also more susceptible to infections and skin cancer. Researchers of the University college London found out now that to it the aging immune system is not debt.

It is the skin, which does not create it any longer to inform the body-own defense over dangers. The team around Professor Arne Akbar reports over the study in on Monday the appearing expenditure of the specialist journal “journal OF experimental Medicine”.
So far one made the white blood corpuscles responsible for the higher susceptibility of aging skin, so the authors in a report. A comparison of the immune cells of under 40-years old and over 70-years old resulted in however no considerable differences – the T-cells of the older study participants were as fit as those the young. The researcher team determined however that the skin cells of the seniors clearly less signal material produced, with which the white blood corpuscles with infections is attracted.
Still it is unclear whether except the skin also different fabric with increasing age loses the ability to call the immune system here. “We would know naturally also gladly, whether it is possible, the skin defect with older humans to turn around”, say Akbar. In the test tube the scientists already cranked the signal material production of the cells – in principle this could function also with humans.
