Is There a Connection Between Abortion and Breast Cancer?
August 1st 2009 -
For some time an embittered discussion is led whether abortion draws a increased cancer of the breast risk. Three new studies put the assumption close that like that is not.

An acceptance reads that the breast fabric is shifted after an abortion into a condition of increased susceptibility for a cancer condition. The results of different studies about cancer of the breast and abortion are not clear necessarily, determine for example Gunnar Erlandsson, differently Ekbom, Scott M. Montgomery and Sven Cnattingius. They attribute to methodical problems.
The scientists examined Swedish women, who were seized in the Swedish medical birth register between 1973 and 1991 and existed with those a connection to the Swedish cancer register. During the evaluation of the data it turned out that women with abortion or with abortion did not carry a increased cancer of the breast risk. The scientists assume that the protecting effect of a pregnancy enters, independently of whether the baby is born or not.
With the E3N-Study, whose results are published in August in the technical literature (international journal OF CAN cerium), the data were evaluated by 100.000 women at the age by 40 – 65 years. No connection between abortion and/or abortion and cancer of the breast risk could be found. The scientists of INSERM, who accomplished this study, found however references on the fact that the status of the Menopause could play a role. These references do not evaluate it however as significantly. Due to these references they give however expression to their assumptions that there is no connection between abortion and cancer of the breast that however a connection between abortion and cancer of the breast risk could give. This could depend on whether the woman is before or after the Menopause. Whereby the risk could be easily increased with postmenopausal women.
A study at the department OF Preventive Medicine and Norris Comprehensive CAN cerium center, saucily School OF Medicine, University OF Southern California, Los Angeles, asked female patients with cancer of the breast and abortions and/or abortions. The result of the study: “Our results do not support the thesis that the cancer of the breast risk of young women increases abortions.”
