Mouth Smell

Taste good
Kisses is most beautiful, even if the partner “tastes good”. Mouth smell (Fetor it ore, Halitosis) is usually harmless, can be disturbing however for the fellow men much. Serious illnesses behind the mouth smell put very rarely. To differentiate one must longer stopping mouth smell and at short notice smellable breath, for example after the benefit of bulbs or garlic.
Frequent causes
In 80 to 90 per cent of the cases the causes of the mouth smell in the oral cavity or in the nasopharyngeal cavity lie. In the oral cavity are bacteria, which decompose containing protein food such as milk. Sulfur connections can develop, which mix into the exhaled and smell badly. These substances are called also volatile sulfur Compounds (VSC, easily volatile sulfur connections).
Do not be afraid to ask your dentist if you suffer from mouth smell. This is not taboo topic, but a wide-spread problem. Even if the cause should not lie in the oral cavity, your dentist knows, where you can turn to the further investigation.
Oral cavity and nasopharyngeal cavity
* Unsatisfactory tooth hygiene (Plaques) and/or cleaning of denture;
* bad tooth status (caries, destroyed teeth, root remainders);
* Inflammations of the mouth mucous membrane, the gums (Gingivitis) or tooth retaining apparatus (Parodontitis);
* drained mouth mucous membrane, e.g. during constant mouth respiration;
* False settlement of the tongue and the gums, e.g. by mushrooms (thrush);
* Infections in the nasopharyngeal cavity (neck, almond or nose beside cave inflammation);
Other illnesses
* Chronic bronchitis;
* Pneumonia (pneumonia);
* Inflammation of the gastric mucosa (gastritis);
* Over or Under acidification of the stomach;
* Bulge of the esophagus (Diverticulum, very rarely and mostly just with older humans);
* Badly adjusted diabetes mellitus (acetone smell);
* Heavy liver and kidney malfunctions (ammonia smell);
* Longer chamfered (acetone smell);
* Bacterial false settlement of the small intestine;
* Digesting disturbances (e.g. fat digesting);
You can do that
A good mouth hygiene, which contains also a cleaning of the inter dental spaces and tongue surface, is most important. With tooth oaths or Inter dental brush can be cleaned the inter dental spaces thoroughly. With special tongue scrapers or – cleans one brushes the tongue surface. Here is very frequently the cause for mouth smell, because the tongue muscle is strongly fissured and the folds on the surface offers a good accumulation surface for smell-causing bacteria and food.
Besides the cause of the mouth smell must be eliminated; in addition for example a tooth redevelopment or a gum treatment belongs.
Lozenges or chewing rubbers (e.g. with peppermint) cover the smell and promote the saliva formation. Bad odor are away-rinsed, those a cause are not however not eliminated thereby at short notice. Note also that sugary sweets promote the Caries formation.
Drink sufficiently and rinse you the mouth with Sage.
Preparations with chlorophyll bind the Odor and work against the mouth smell.
After consultation with the dentist you can rinse the mouth also with Chlorhexidine. This substance kills bacteria in the mouth very reliably. However is this no continuous solution. By permanent use of certain rinsing solutions it can come to discolorations of teeth and tongue. Some patients report also of taste restrictions.
