Marco Narici of Manchester Metropolitan University had come across reports of secretaries from the 50 years that felt after the evening to drop the high heels pain in the calves. Together with his colleague Robert Csapo from the University of Vienna was Narici the phenomenon now with new technology on the ground.

Via newspaper advertisement, the researchers recruited participants 20-70 years, at least two years regularly paragraphs of five centimeters or more were. For the experiment chose Narici and Csapo from those women who reported similar symptoms as her fellow women 50 years ago. As a comparison group were women who say they predominate flat shoes to wear.

The result: The calf muscles were similar in both groups of women, although the same length. By MRI, the researchers were able to demonstrate, however, that the muscle fibers were shorter in the calf muscles in high-heel wearers on average by 13 percent than in the Flat shoes subjects. Such shortened muscle fibers would typically lead to less effectiveness when striding. But the researchers were able to establish that the body had already own is out: The Women’s heeled shoe companies have, on balance stronger hamstrings.

Exactly but make themselves felt uncomfortable with pulling and tingling, as soon as the ladies took off the high heels – the Achilles tendon was too tight and stiff, in order to stretch easily. The researchers recommend that women who want to not give up high heels, stretching exercises for the tendon.

Other problems associated with the high heels are expected, so hardly can be avoided. These include painful deformed feet, varicose veins and back pain.

Feet are the “Achilles heel” of diabetes. The typical diabetic disease in the legs and feet can be the source of many infections such as athlete’s foot. Nearly 70 percent of diabetics suffer from this common disease. The majority, confirmed scientific studies, has urgent need for more information on care and hygiene, early detection and prevention. This is the treatment of athlete’s foot in diabetic patients is an absolute must in order to prevent possibly life-threatening secondary diseases.

The links between diabetes and athlete’s foot are as simple as reaching. Especially with poorly controlled diabetes mellitus, there is almost inevitably the blood flow and damage to the nervous system, which in turn leads to a weakened immune system locally. Remember this is concerned, among other things through to the extreme dry skin eczema and poorly-healing wounds and infections. Far more serious, however, side effects, which go unnoticed: the diminished sensation in the legs and feet, and a degraded sense of pain. As a consequence, serious problems begin innocently, not detected early enough and effectively treated. A fact which also favors the athlete’s foot and its spread.

Of central importance is, therefore, that a rethink diabetics. The skilled symptoms of athlete’s foot: itching and burning, they are less important than the perception of optical signals: redness, scaling and blistering. An intense scrutiny of the toes, spaces between the toes and soles should also include the daily mandatory, health’s sake.

The fungus has yet taken root, is: not long, but to act immediately! Most athlete’s foot infections can be treated easily and thoroughly with anti-fungal agents. At the first signs but should always consult a doctor. Antimykotikas is available as a gel, cream or spray a prescription at the pharmacy. The refatting gel is therefore suitable for dry skin and especially for diabetics. The cream absorbs quickly and is waterproof. The convenient pump spray can even be sprayed over his head and is therefore suitable for the treatment of difficult to reach parts of the body. Ingredient of many Antimykotikas is bifonazole. This penetrates quickly into the skin, has anti-inflammatory and soothes the infected sites reliably and athlete’s foot is being fought. Important: An athlete’s foot treatment with three weeks still to be endured.

Important tips for prevention:
*Wash feet daily 3 to 5 minutes at 37 degrees with a gentle back-oily soap
*Daily monitoring of the toes, spaces between the toes and soles – for example, with a mirror
*Dry skin care cream
*Even the smallest wound care treatment
*Pressure: Avoid shoes to look for in soft leather upper, smooth footbed, insole and lining and socks to fit
*Socks with high cotton content to choose and change daily

The correct shoes are a spoiling program and the correct care the other one. How you can make that, we show you in the following section.

Massages
The feet are the basis of our movement apparatus, it hold us in the equilibrium and are important junctions at the extremities of our body.

Particularly in the Chinese and Indian medicine large attention is dedicated to this realization. Here one assumes at the different zones of the foot – to move and toes correspondences and connections to all body organs to exist.

By purposeful massage these reflex zones are stimulated these in certain way and positively affected in the sense of the healing process. Similarly the Chinese already for thousands of years the toes are well-known for their Acupressure method in welfare practice. And also minister did not remain hidden that many diseases are connected with the feet.

Baths and CO
The feet have directly many sweat glands as our hands and are nevertheless not as often washed as the hands. They are early in-squeezed until into shoes in the evening late from in the morning. In addition still often in cheap shoes from synthetic material, in which above all the damp, oxygen-poor climate the best fertile soil for mushrooms and skin diseases is.
A central component of the foot care are from there regular, 10 – to 15-minutes foot baths.

Such baths
Is the ideal preparation for following nail care or foot massage.
Have an refresh-encouraging effect (with cooler water temperatures and possibly corresponding bath salts, e.g. with sage or arnica excerpts). Make again supple the skin and promote the blood circulation.

Hygiene
In order to prevent welding formation and the almost pervasive foot mushroom, hygiene is highest requirement:
Change on hot day repeatedly the shoes and provide you for highest possible air supply. Hint: If you run barefoot, so often you can. Practicing struggle: also under the desk that can be done marvelously and is permitted according to etiquette!
Sweated shoes should be cleaned carefully and aired well.
After washing the feet must be dried well, particularly between the toes. Humidity favors mushroom growth.
If you are susceptible for foot fungal attack use you no strange towels or shoes.
Wear to socks and socks from natural materials, best from pure cotton, silk or wool. Change these frequently and wash you them at highest possible temperatures.
As often wear as possible open shoes with a good foot bed.

Wellness for the feet
Grant to your feet from time to time a recovery phase! In addition belongs:
Wear uncomfortable shoes only rarely and never for long time.
Barefoot-go: Much air and sun are a relief for each foot. On soft documents (sand, grass) feet can relax marvelously.
Think from time to time of gymnastic! Here is goes to foot training.
Also resilience, e.g. after the Kneipp between method (castings water-step), do (not only) to the feet good.

Diabetic and their feet
Above all diabetics should dedicate increased attention to their feet:
Careful care and sun screen and with the patronage Podologin are must.
To absolutely avoid injuries are, e.g. by inappropriate nail care or by barefoot going.
Blood circulation-promoting measures such as gymnastic, movement and easy massages show a positive effect.
